Terrapex Environnement Ltée is performing environmental site remediation phase 3 within the context of the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment and Parks (MDDEP) “Policy for the Protection and Remediation of Contaminated Property” (Politique de protection des sols et de réhabilitation des terrains contaminés and “Site Assessment Guide” (Guide de caractérisation de terrains)
An environmental remediation project has decontamination as its primary objective, as defined by a site assessment to a level deemed suitable by the MDDEP guidelines for the designated usage or zoning.
A number of factors influence the selection of remediation technology, such as:
- The type of contamination (characteristics, state, volume, risk exposure, permitting)
- The site characteristics (type of soil, hydrogeology, hydrology, topography, subsurface infrastructure, location)
- System cost (capital, operating, monitoring and maintenance costs)
- Project duration
