Flexibility (Work-Life Balance)

Terrapex strives to offer employees the necessary latitude to balance their personal or educational obligations and commitments with their professional responsibilities.

The Terrapex has always recognized the advantages an employer offers when it genuinely cares about the work-life balance of its employees. Therefore, the company continuously reaffirms its commitment to supporting employees in reconciling their professional, personal and familial obligations with the goal of increasing their satisfaction and motivation and improving their quality of life.

Terrapex has implemented a Work-Life Balance Policy for four measures: family leave, workplace and scheduling accommodations, support for employees and their families and organizational flexibility.

Family Leave

Because every family is different, Terrapex has decided to adapt the leaves of absence it offers. This may include reserving a bank of five FLEX days, respecting an employee’s right to be absent to care for an immediate family member, giving employees a choice of vacation dates, providing supplemental unemployment benefits (SUB) if an employee falls ill or permitting flexibility during school vacations.

Workplace and Scheduling Accommodations

This measure aims to improve employees’ quality of life by offering diverse accommodations. Flexible scheduling allows a certain degree of latitude at the beginning and end of each work shift. In the event of unforeseen personal circumstances, we can make arrangements to vary the schedule according to availability or to allow the worker to make up the time by working outside of regular office hours. We make a bank of service hours available to our employees. Finally, we use a hybrid work model to allow employees to work on the company premises or from home so they can achieve a better work-life balance while continuing to share information with their colleagues and participate in company social events. At our different offices, we offer sporting and culinary activities through social clubs, providing opportunities for employees to enjoy quality time with their coworkers.

Support for Employees and their Families

Personal and professional obligations as well as unforeseen circumstances can erode an employee’s discretionary time. We have therefore implemented certain mechanisms for optimizing personal time. These can take the form, for example, of arranging for employees to have their tires changed at work, providing catered dishes so that employees can buy individual or family meals, taking advantage of purchase groups (e.g. vegetable baskets) or sharing the various corporate discounts Terrapex receives.

The company is also aware that every day can represent a challenge and that unforeseen circumstances will arise, which is why we make an employee assistance program available to our team members and their families.

Organizational Flexibility

Our organization understands the importance of the right to disconnect. This means that employees aren’t obligated to respond to professional communications outside of their regular work hours. As a result, they can derive more enjoyment from their personal time.

We encourage our employees to pursue their professional development and we provide them with the necessary time and space to achieve their goals while benefitting from internal support.

An internal Work-Life Balance Committee is available to keep these measures in place and to answer employees’ questions regarding our company commitments.

Professional Development

An employee’s professional development begins the moment they join the company. Certain training and prerequisites may be necessary for an employee to climb the ranks. To achieve their goals, employees can establish a career path made up of key steps.

The progression will vary according to each employee’s professional objectives. During annual performance appraisals, managers will take the time to review each objective and the related training.

Additionally, Terrapex offers necessary support and encouragement to employees wishing to pursue a degree or join a professional association related to their work.

Within the company, various professionals in different fields work side by side to carry out our projects. The diversity of our professionals (including hydrogeologists, geologists, engineers and biologists) empowers them to share elements related to their specialized fields through co-development (mentoring and coaching) and training to benefit all of our employees.

Company Culture

Terrapex is a professional company distinguished by a team of nearly one hundred employees working across three different offices, located in Brossard (Montréal), Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures (Québec) and Richmond (Estrie/Downtown Québec).

Having small teams in each of our offices promotes closeness and a sense of family. On the other hand, Terrapex can also leverage the overall size of the company in order to win and fulfill large-scale contracts.
